About Us

TOKI began with the discovery of kimono sleeping quietly in a grandmother’s chest of drawers

Kimono embody the wisdom and heartfelt intentions of past generations.
They are adorned with auspicious motifs that express wishes for the happiness of loved ones, and they are thoughtfully constructed so that the fabric can be cut, sewn, and even taken apart without waste.

Once worn and cherished across generations, many kimono today have lost their place. In fact, tons of kimono are discarded every year in Japan.

We believe these garments — filled with Japanese aesthetics and masterful craftsmanship — deserve to be passed on to the next generation.

TOKI was born from this conviction.
The name TOKI carries a dual meaning: “Touching Kimono beyond time,” and the Japanese word toki, meaning “time.”

We shine a spotlight once more on kimono resting in the darkness and upcycle them into designs that harmonize with contemporary lifestyles.

When you see a kimono, a natural sense of “beauty” rises from within. By listening to that quiet voice deep in your heart, feeling it with your body, and allowing its resonance to ripple outward, we hope to bring a subtle sense of elevation and make your everyday life just a little more special.

Each item is completely unique. To fully honor the texture and patterns of the kimono fabric, every piece is carefully designed and cut by hand. The kimono has been washed once and aired out.
